We at DoorBird have been working hard to research, develop and test how we can play our part in improving the safety of all in the current pandemic situation (COVID-19). The result of our work is our Touch-Free Call Module. With our module for contactless ringing, you can reduce virus and germ exposure in areas with high public traffic. The module is ideal for public buildings like health care facilities or schools, but also for smaller offices where the security for staff and visitors is to be actively increased.
The module has an intelligent gesture sensor that reliably detects hand gestures as well as the approach of the hand to the module within a distance of 10 cm (3.94 in). The gesture sensor combines various technologies simultaneously for this purpose, including ambient light, RGB and infrared light sensor technology. The visitor can draw attention to himself germ-free and intuitively by simply waving. Since our gesture sensor can also detect the approximation of a hand, the solution also works if, for example, a package is held with both hands in front of it.
Once a gesture has been recognized, the module can perform all actions identical to our standard call button, e.g: Ù Send a call signal, e.g. as push message Ù Initiate a SIP call Ù Switch a relay, e.g. to open a door automatically in a certain timeframe Ù Send information to the building automation system, e.g. by means of an HTTP/(s) command Optionally, you can also configure whether only a certain hand gesture should perform an action, e.g. waving hand from left to right opens a door.
